Our hair is exposed to a number of dirt factors. If it isn’t from the commute to work on trains or buses, it’s the polluted air, the temperamental weather, the constant touching and the build up from shampooing, conditioning and styling products that we use on a daily basis.
If your hair starts to feel grubby, smells bad or becomes itchy it’s time for a detox to keep your scalp fresh and healthy.
We’ve put together 3 different and easy detox remedies you could probably find in your cupboards at home that can help to cleanse your hair from the very first go:
1. Vinegar
Most people opt for Apple Cider vinegar but in our experience, distilled white or Malt vinegar works the same when diluted in water. The acetic acid in vinegar removes residue from product build-up as well as maintain the pH balance of the scalp that leaves your hair clean and shiny after every wash.
Directions: After shampooing and conditioning, mix together 3 tablespoons of vinegar with water in a cup and rinse your hair and scalp. Do not rinse with water.
2. Rose Water
Rosewater is great for cleansing the hair, not only does it smell great, it helps to replenish lost moisture in the hair. It also has anti-inflammatory properties that can help to reduce dandruff therefore assisting the cleaning process.
Directions: After shampooing and conditioning, rinse your hair and scalp with 1 cup of rose water. Do not rinse with water.
3. Green Tea
Green tea is rich in antioxidants and nutrients that can help to cleanse your hair to keep it squeaky clean, as well as for strengthening hair and soothing scalp irritations. Regularly rinsing your hair with green tea will leave your hair shiny, stronger and healthier.
Directions: Brew 1 teabag of green tea to make one cup full. Let it cool and rinse your hair with the mixture after shampooing and conditioning. Do not rinse with water.
